Who is Eligible for Canada Immigration Through the Federal Skilled Worker Program?

Requirement for Canada Skilled Worker Program

To be eligible for the Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Possess a minimum of one year of continuous full-time paid work experience (or comparable part-time continuous employment) in one of the 370 qualified occupations listed in the National Occupational Classification system within the last ten years.
  2. Work experience must fall into one of the following TEER categories: 0 (management occupations), 1 (occupations requiring a university degree), 2 (occupations requiring a college diploma, apprenticeship training of 2 or more years, or supervisory roles), or 3 (occupations requiring a college diploma, apprenticeship training of less than 2 years, or more than 6 months of on-the-job training).
  3. Score enough points on the Canada federal skilled worker program point grid, which is made up of six selection elements.
  4. Submit to third-party language testing and demonstrate intermediate-level language skills in English or French equivalent to the Canadian Language Benchmark of 7.
  5. Have adequate settlement funding.
  6. Pass a security background check and a medical checkup.

Employment Experience- Minimum 9 Points to Maximum 15 Points

Under Canada’s skilled immigration program maximum of 1 year of work experience is required in an eligible occupation, maximum experience of 6 years considered.
