UK Student Visa

There are two basic types of UK Visa:

1. Tier 4 (Child Visa)
2. Tier 4 (Short-term Visa)

Child Visa

For a child visa, you must have a course in line that you want to study in the UK, consent from your parent or a local guardian, and a bank statement for finances should be available. You can apply for this visa 3 months before the start of your course. It lasts for 6 years for below 16-course years and 16-17 years course duration, it is for 3 months.

Short Term Visa

With this visa, you can stay in the UK for the entire course. It is for students above the age of 16. If your visa is expired, you can still stay in the UK for up to 6 months.

Requirements for UK Student Visa

For applying for a UK student visa, you may require the following documents:

1. A valid, current passport or another travel document.

When to Apply for UK Student Visa

UK Universities usually have two major intakes during a year:

• September / October
• January / February

The earliest you can apply for a study visa is 3 months before you start your course. You can get approval on your visa within 3 weeks and arrive in the UK before your course starts:

• up to 1 week before, if your course lasts 6 months or less
• up to 1 month before, if your course lasts more than 6 months
